Serial communication MM6

Post by PDOP »

Hi,
Does anyone know if its possible to connect a serial device to the MM6?
And do you connect as with older magellans data in(left) vs out(right) on the two lower connector pads on the back?

You can use the MM6 as a serial NMEA device using the conntector on the back. I have a pin layout somewhere...

Matz,
I asked the support at Magellan and they said that it isnt possible to connect it via a serial cable only bluetooth or USB.

What I would like to do is connect a fishfinder to the MM6

You seem to have used this unit quite a bit, how do you get the batteries to last?

The Magellansupport don't know their own products. There is a special NMEA cable to conntect the Triton/MM6 to another NMEA units. The MM6 has a a new softwarefeature with the new Today-Plugin that lets the MM6 communicate with other NMEA devices -> "Set NMEA Mode". However I did not test this functionality with other devices than my PC.

A good set of NiMH batteries lasts for approx. 10 hours (normal backlight and bluetooth switched off).
